THE MAGIC NUMBER FOUR
The number Four is not a special number in the row of numbers, but for us human beings it appears to have a special influence. We are intended to believe the fact that this number has played a dominant role in the categorization of the world around us. We are receiving the image from the world through the electromagnetic waves in the visible light spectrum hitting our receptors at the back of our eyes. We are actively constructing an image of the world in our brain. We transform the electromagnetic waves by a very complex chemical process to signals transmitted along million of nerve cells to various parts of the brain. The total visual field is transected in Four quadrants and these quadrants are processed separately in the brain. In higher parts of the brain the images are combined and give us the impression as all parts of the visual field were processed in narrow relation to each other. I personally think, that this partition in Four parts of our visual field influencing us far more than we think. Not only our visual field is divided in Four, as the list will show in more things Four plays a dominant role.
Nature
Four dimensions were created at the beginning of our universe: time and
three-dimensional space.
Four 'fundamental' forces in nature (gravity, weak interactions, strong
nuclear forces and electromagnetic forces were acting on this matter).
Four geological periods: primary, secondary, tertiary, quaternary
Four of the most important for the building of our body (99.4%) are
Hydrogen, Carbon, Nitrogen, and Oxygen. (Carbon is unique in chemistry because
it forms a vast number of compounds larger than the sum total of all other
elements combined. By far the largest group is that composed of carbon and
hydrogen).
Four elements form Four molecules Water (H2O) Carbon dioxide
(CO2), Ammonia (NH3) and ethane (CH4),
Four elements form Four simple combinations of atoms: methyl
(-CH3), hydroxyl (-OH), carboxyl (-COOH) amino (-NH2),
Four major families of small organic molecules: the simple sugars, the
fatty acids, the amino acids and the nucleotides. Amino acids are the subunits
of in the synthesis of proteins .
Four families of the 20 amino-acids: The common acids are grouped according
to whether their side chains are acidic (2), basic (3), uncharged polar (5) and
nonpolar (10). The rule by which the nucleotide sequence of a gene is translated
into the amino acid sequence of a protein is the so-called genetic code.
Four hydrogen atoms attached to one atom of carbon, with tetrahedron
symmetry). Our genetic material consists of DNA and RNA.
Four bases for DNA: Cytosine(C), Guanidine (G), Thymine (T) and Adenine
(A)
Four bases for RNA: Cytosine (C), Guanidine (G), Uracil (U) and Adenine (A),
Four different nucleotides forms the RNA. Sets of three nucleotides (codons)
in a mRNA molecule are translated into amino acids in the course of protein
synthesis.

Human body

Four phases of fertilization. First it stimulates the egg the complete
second meiotic division. Second it restores the normal diploid number of 46
chromosomes. Third the possible sex of the future is determined by the
chromosomal complement of the spermatozoon (2 X the embryo maybe a genetic
female and X and Y chromosome a possible male). The mingling material of
maternal and paternal chromosomes the zygote is a genetically unique product of
chromosomal reassortment, which is important for the viability of any species.
The Fourth phase: the process of fertilization causes a metabolic
activation of the egg.
Four phases of mitosis: S phase during which period the DNA synthesis
takes place, the DNA of each chromosome is replicated. Before and after this
phase G1 and G2 intensive metabolic activity cell growth and cell
differentiation occur. By the end of phase G2 the volume of the cell has roughly
doubled, the DNA is replicated. Now we enter the phase of mitosis (M).
Continuously diving cells then repeat this cycle of Four phases (G1, S,
G2, and M). Following mitosis (five phases) two daughter cells are produced.
Four segments of the embryo. The organization of the body plan of the
embryo of a human being depends on two separate patterning mechanisms one
defining the dorsal and ventral side and the other the head and tail of the
embryo. This is under genetic control (in total about 70 genes). The embryo is
so divided by two axes in Four segments.
Fourth week of pregnancy the embryo, which is still about only about 4 mm
long, has established the rudiments of most of the major organ systems. In the
fifth week we see the development of Four pharyngeal pouches and arches
resemble the Four gills of fishes. Are formed in the fifth week: Four
grooves in the primitive limb have formed our hands and feet.

information of these quadrants is projected to Four different areas in
the visual field of the thalamus and the cortex, Four different visual
receptors, one for black and white (rods) and three kinds of receptors (cones)
to various wavelengths of light, Four component qualities can produce all
tastes: sweet, sour, bitter and salty, Four mechanoreceptors of our

Is this just coincidental or is it our conditioned mind that we come up
always with Four. I don't know the answer. I want to show the remarkable
role Four plays in our life. If we look at constructions made by humans
like rooms, windows, building, we will see rectangular forms. Quite in
contrast with forms in nature like trees with irregular forms. We should
realize that the other numbers like 0 and 1 are also of great importance
(digital language) and the number 2 as a building block of the number Four
(2x2). It would be of great interest to make also a list of the other numbers to
whether they show important relations as we have shown with the number Four.
The only reason why we are looking for these relations is the fact that
apparently complicated features, like a human body is build of relatively simple
elements.Maybe that we unconsciously conceive the world around us according our
basic structural elements? Through all ages we came up with these same basic
elements.Anyhow there is more that we don’t understand than what we know anyhow.
Readers are requested to comment on this note, either they put it aside as
wishful thinking or just pure fantasy.
